I think in practice most of us amateurs only need up to 2 renderings for their DV material (note that firewire capture
is no rendering because it is a lossless content transfer).

Here we have the pictures of the second render generation in comparison:

Sony Pictures DV (2. Generation)

Canopus DV (2. Generation)

Mainconcept DV (2. Generation)
Have a closer look at those bad horizontal lines.

Sony Pictures DV introduces more artefacts (look at the red/blue edges in the right upper corner; look at the edge
between the luma and chroma fields; artefacts at the greyscale/black edges became slightly stronger). But the
credit card area is somewhat perfect (better than Canopus DV).
Canopus DV produces additional mosquitos.

But again Canopus gets the point.
